With its debut at Tokyo Motor Show 2015 in December, the new Suzuki Ignis is slotted under the compact SUV category. As the company gears up to launch the model in Japanese markets in February, a detailed brochure of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis has emerged online. According to this Brochure, it will be offered in three variants Hybrid MZ, Hybrid MX and Hybrid MG.
Being positioned in the Sub 4-metre category, the new Ignis measures 3,700 mm long, 1,595 mm high and 1,660 mm wide with a wheelbase measuring 2,435 mm and has sufficient ground clearance of 180 mm, so as to tackle all kinds of bad roads and bumpy rides. The boot volume stands at 258 litres which can be extended to 415 litres when the rear seats are folded down.
The Japan-bound Ignis will be powered by a 1.25-litre K12C DualJet petrol four cylinder engine is capable of delivering 91 PS power at 6,000 rpm and 118 Nm torque at 4,400 rpm, which paired with an SHVS mild hybrid system and an electric motor giving giving extra 3.1 PS power and 50 Nm torque. The fuel efficiency of the Suzuki Ignis with a two wheel drive system is of 28 kmpl while with the AWD system this goes down to 25.4 kmpl. All the variants are available in both 2WD and AWD.
Talking about the features and design, we know apart from the services the Maruti is now focused towards the safety of its products buyers too, and the new Ignis features ABS and EBD as standard. The new Ignis gets a large single slat grille with integrated projector headlamps and flared wheel arches. Inside the new Suzuki Ignis, it gets an all new design with touchscreen entertainment system, slim multi-function steering wheel and a new instrument cluster.
It is expected to be launched by the end of this year in India, where the price could range between Rs 4-6 lakh, being in immediate completion with the likes of Mahindra KUV100.
