Maruti Suzuki has discontinued the diesel version of the Ignis in India. The Decision has been taken as demands for the Ignis diesel is very low. Customers if the Ignis mainly opt for the petrol variants, so the automaker has decided to pull the plug on the diesel model. The Ignis was launched with lot of expectation, but the car is yet to receive the desired sales figure.
Maruti Suzuki launched the Ignis focusing on the millennial buyers. It comes with an unusual, sporty and stylish urban appeal that is meant to lure the urban young generation customers. The car gets LED projector lamps, LED daytime running lights, an unconventional looking rear profile, tab-like touchscreen infotainment system at the centre console.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis is based on the Suzuki iM-4 concept. It was showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, where the car garnered pretty good attention. It is sold through the Nexa premium retail network.
On the powertrain front, Maruti Suzuki Ignis gets both petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel motor is the tried and tested Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. This engine was available with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while there was a 5-speed AMT as well. The engine kicks out 74 bhp of peak power at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of peak torque at 2,000 rpm.
