Maruti Suzuki has recalled 40,618 units of Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 1.0L hatchback models for inspecting a potential manufacturing defect. Maruti Wagon R 1.0L vehicles manufactured between 15th November 2018 and 12th August 2019 have reported an issue with the fouling of the fuel hose with a metal clamp.
Maruti Suzuki is contacting each Maruti Suzuki Wagon R owners personally to apprise them of the issue. Maruti Suzuki undertakes to fix this issue and replace the faulty parts free of cost. Besides, customers who are facing such problems can access the Important Customer Info tab on Maruti Suzuki’s official website and submit the details of their vehicle’s chassis number to confirm whether their car requires any rectification. The chassis number starts with MA3 followed by a 14-digit alphanumeric code. Customers can refer their invoices, registration certificates, and the embossing on the vehicle ID plate to obtain the chassis number.

This new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R was launched on 23rd January 2019 at prices starting from Rs 4.20 lakhs. There are two variants of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, the 68hp 1.0L unit and the 83hp BSVI-compliant 1.2L petrol engine version. Both these engines pair with a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission system.
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R offers direct competition to hatchbacks like Hyundai Santro, Datsun Go, and the Tata Tiago. Recently, Maruti Suzuki had launched the 6-seater Maruti Suzuki XL6, based on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga at prices starting from Rs 9.80 lakhs.
