Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Prices drop down by over Rs 2 lakh

Snapshot: Maruti Suzuki is planning to bring in a 'limited edition' variant of the S-Cross at the Auto Expo 2016.

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross was launched in August, 2015 priced at Rs 8.34 lakh, and now the S-Cross has received a price cut of up to 2.05 lakh. Over 17,000 units of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross have been sold since its launch in the country, out of which 15,000 were the 1.3-litre DDiS 200 variants. More interestingly, Maruti Suzuki has recently announced a price hike across its products by up to Rs 12,000 to offset the impact of rising costs and weakening of rupee against dollar.

The S-Cross is available in two engine options the 1.3-litre DDiS 200 and 1.6-litre DDiS 320 – the price difference between these two versions has now come down to Rs 1.5 lakh which was around 3 lakh at the time of launch. Where, the price of Maruti S-Cross now starts at Rs 7.79 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 11.69 lakh. According to the company, they have established leadership in the crossover segment with an average sale of 2,500 units per month.

While that statement may hold true in terms of segment, but we about the fact that the Hyundai Creta is considered to be the primary rival of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, as both have 1.6-litre engine option and price range too. Though, the officials consider the 1.6-litre variant as the 'aspirational' variant, that has allowed the brand to establish the car in the market. But considering the sales numbers, it seems that the market has accepted the 1.3-litre variant of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, while the 1.6-litre variant still struggles.

Maruti Suzuki is planning to bring in a 'limited edition' variant of the S-Cross at the Auto Expo 2016. As of now not much of the tech-specs are out of this variant, but we’ll surely keep you updated.
