Maruti Suzuki S-Cross has finally been unveiled at the IIFA Awards ceremony held in Malaysia. It is not the first time that an auto manufacturer has chosen a star studded event for the unveiling of an India-spec version of a vehicle as earlier Renault also previewed its Lodgy MPV at the Star Guild Awards Show. The S-Cross crossover would launch in the first week of July in India in a price bracket of Rs. 7-11 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
As evident in the image, Maruti hasn't left any stone unturned to make S-Cross a sporty crossover SUV. Several sporty elements such as roof-rails, full body plastic cladding, side skirts, etc. have been offered with the crossover. However, alloy wheels are missing in the vehicle shown in image, which suggests that it might not be the top-end variant. It would measure over 4 meters in length and the company would launch it in both petrol as well as diesel guises. Sources suggest that Maruti Suzuki S-Cross would come with Fiat-soucred 1.3L Multi-jet diesel engine which would generate maximum power of 90PS. Though, the company might also offer the 1.6L diesel motor which develops 120PS with the higher variants.
As far as petrol variants are concerned, they would be powered by same 1.4L motor, which is on offer with Ciaz and Ertiga, while churning out 93PS of top power. It is being learnt from various sources that the diesel variants with smaller 1.3L engine would be quite high on mileage. Just so you know, the 1.3L Multi-jet diesel yeilds a mileage of 26kmpl with Ciaz mid-sized sedan. So, a segment-best mileage is expected when the S-Cross crossover launches next month in the country to rival the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Hyundai Creta and Mahindra Scorpio.
