The home grown automaker, Maruti Suzuki has reported a decline of 10.2 percent in domestic sales, selling 92,133 units in June, 2016 as against 102626 units in the corresponding month last year. The Company sold a total of 98,840 units that includes the aforementioned sales in the domestic market and 6,707 units of exports as compared to a total of 114,756 unit sales in June, 2015. It has been the lowest monthly sales in two years due to the fire at the company’s vendor Subros facility, which supplies air-conditioning kits.
In the June sales, the company’s sales decline across all segments except in the utility vehicle (Gypsy, Ertiga, Vitara, Brezza, S-Cross) category that went up by 75.5 by 9708 units sold, compared to 5531 units sold last year. While the sales of the mini cars like Alto and WagonR registered a sales figure of 27,712 units, a decline of 19.3% if we look at the June 2015 the brand sold 34,336.
In compact car (Swift, Ritz, Celerio, DZire, Baleno) segment, the brand sold 39,971 units, while in the previous year it sold 45,701, down by 12.5%. Demand for the mid-size sedan was also down by 24.3 %, 2,800 units compared to 3,700 units in June 2015.
