India’s largest carmaker has reported to have registered sales growth of 21.7 per cent in the month of July 2014 with total sales of 1,01,380 units. The company had sold 83,299 units in the same month last year.
In the domestic market alone, the monthly sales growth is up by 19.9 per cent at 90,093 units as against 75,145 units in July 2013. The star performers for the Indian automaker were once again, the Swift, Estilo and the Ritz hatchbacks that contributed to the sales figure with 25,156 units in July. The total sales of the three hatchbacks in July 2013 stood at 13,882 units. Sales of mini segment cars including, Alto, A-Star and WagonR however, saw a 14.4 per cent decline in sales at 28,749 units as compared to 33,587 units sold in the year ago period.
The sales of Maruti Suzuki DZire compact sedan rose 22.2 per cent at 18,634 units as against 15,249 units sold in July 2013. The SX4 sedan registered a decline in sales at 233 units as against 322 units sold in July 2013, which is down by 27.6 per cent.
Sales of utility vehicles including, Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga rose 23.4 per cent with total sales of 5,631 units in the month of July 2014 as compared to 4,562 units sold in the corresponding month last year. Sales of vans - Omni and Eeco - rose 54.8 per cent to 11,680 units in July 2014 as compared to 7,543 units in the same month last year.
In terms of exports, the company shipped a total of 11,287 units, which translates to a growth of 38.4 per cent when compared to 8,154 units sold in July 2013.
