Maruti Suzuki, one of India’s largest automobile maker, has reportedly stopped the production of the Ritz model in order to focus on its upcoming model Ignis. Right from its launch in 2009, this model has failed to attract buyers the way other Maruti Suzuki cars did.
The company’s latest production, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is all set to get a mega launch early next year, and the preparations for the compact crossover are in full swing. Hence, if the reports are to be believed, Maruti Suzuki has stopped the production of Ritz solely to streamline the launch of the Ignis.
This is not the first time we are hearing the news of the Ritz going out of production. Earlier too, Ritz touched the headlines where there were speculations that the production was halted. However, the automobile maker itself denied the speculations saying that the production was still on.
Statistically, Maruti Ritz was one of the models from Maruti Suzuki that failed to make a solid impression on the market, besides failing to fulfill the expectations of the company itself. The Ritz model has been selling an average of 3,000 units per month, which is on the lower side compared to other cars by the same brand.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis, the compact crossover car, was supposed to hit the market by the festive season this year after being showcased at the Auto Expo 2016. However, the current best selling models like Vitara Brezza and Baleno and the production constraint has pushed the launch of Ignis to 2017. Further speculations reveal that the latest cross car will hit the roads by February 2017. Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be available at its premium dealership, Nexa, and will be up against Mahindra KUV 100. The crossover might see a starting price tag of 5.5-lakhs.
