Maruti Suzuki temporarily suspended manufacturing of cars at its facilities in Manesar and Gurgaon, due to ongoing agitation in Haryana. The Maruti Suzuki plants has been affected by the supply of certain components due to the ongoing agitation and the India’s largest car manufacturer is making efforts to look for a different alternative. The production was suspended on February 20.
Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki is making efforts to arrange the components from other sources and the company has also stated that the production will resume, once the supply of components is restored. The combined output from Manesar and Gurgaon is currently about 5000 vehicles per day. This is a hard time for Maruti Suzuki, as the brand was already fighting to keep up with the of their premium hatchback Baleno.
Moreover, it will also affect the production of the upcoming compact SUV by Maruti Suzuki, the Vitara Brezza. The Vitara Brezza is the most anticipated product by the company that will be launched in March. This product has caught a lot of attention at Auto Expo 2016 and the company has to make sure to build up all the inventories for a smooth flow of deliveries to the customers.
The company is set to close FY16 with a capacity of 1.45 million units and plans to add 1-1.2 lakh units in the next financial year. While, this increased output will be achieved by increasing the production at both Gurgaon and Manesar plants.
