Maruti Suzuki to price hike by up to Rs 34,000

Snapshot: Maruti Suzuki India Limited said Ex-showroom prices of its models would go up in the range of Rs 1,441 to Rs 34,494 across its models.

With the announcement of the of the Union Budget 2016-17, Maruti Suzuki India Limited today said Ex-showroom prices of its models would go up in the range of Rs 1,441 to Rs 34,494 across its models on account of the infrastructure cess on automobiles. Though, the company has not provided with detailed information regarding the increase in the price of individual models.

There’s a good news for those who want to opt for the Smart Hybrid Models like Ciaz SHVS and Ertiga SHVS. Maruti has introduced this system in the diesel variants of the Ciaz and the Ertiga, where both the models have benefitted of the FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India) scheme that was introduced by the Government of India. The company stated that both models the Ciaz SHVS and Ertiga SHVS are exempt from the Infrastructure Cess, there is no change in the prices of these models.

We know that the government has decided to impose 2.5 percent cess on diesel vehicles of length not exceeding 4 metre and engine capacity not exceeding 1,500 cc, while a cess of 4 per cent was imposed on higher engine capacity SUVs and bigger sedans.  These are over 1% of the Infrastructure Tax will be imposed on petrol, CNG and LPG Cars of length not exceeding 4-metre with an engine capacity below 1200cc.
