Maruti Suzuki unveils the most anticipated compact crossover the “Maruti Suzuki Ignis”, which was saved for the Second Day of the Auto Expo 2016. The concept will enter into production lines for the Indian market and is expected to launch during the festive season this year by Maruti owned NEXA dealerships.
Maruti Ignis is a compact vehicle sporting a contemporary design. The front fascia gets round headlamps with curved LED lights that appears smart that will surely attract the consumers for its looks. It measures 3,700mm in length, 1,660mm in width and 1,595mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,438mm. It will be offered in a five-seat configuration with decent space for both front and rear occupants.
First unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, the Ignis is based on Suzuki's new generation platform that also underpins the recently launched Maruti Baleno premium hatchback. So it is expected to get a 1.2-litre petrol mill that dish out 84 PS and 115 Nm of torque. The Ignis may also come packed withthe Fiat souerced 1.3-litre 4-cylinder diesel mill that develops 90 PS and 190 Nm of torque. Both these engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The compact crossover will compete against the likes of the Mahindra KUV100 and the upcoming Datsun GO Cross concept. The company says the vehicle will go on sale during this year festive season.
