Maruti Suzuki has again teased the Vitara Brezza on its official website, but this time, the brand has teased by showing the front fascia of the model. This compact SUV will make its world premiere for the media on 3rd February at the Auto Expo 2016, while the market launch is expected to take place in March 2016. It has been designed according to Maruti’s new design language.
The Vitara Brezza will be the first product to be developed by an Indian team led by Mr CV Raman, with no inputs from the global team. According to Mr C V Raman, the project was handed over to the Indian engineering team in mid-2011. The compact SUV is based on a completely new platform and is complementing the XA Alpha concept that was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo.
In the Indian market, the Vitara Brezza will be positioned between Maruti Swift hatchback and the Maruti S-Cross crossover, being an immediate rival to the likes of Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300. Being fully designed and developed by Maruti’s India R&D team, the Vitara Brezza would not be sold via the company's premium NEXA dealerships.
Under the hood, it is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and 1.3-litre Fiat sourced diesel engine, where Both engines will sport a front-wheel drive arrangement with a 5-speed manual gearbox, though a CVT could be offered with the petrol.
The Vitara Brezza is expected to be loaded up with SmartPlay touchscreen entertainment system, automatic climate control, key-less entry, multi-functioning steering wheel, push start/stop button and touchscreen infotainment system. The safety will be taken care of by airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD).
