A source revealed to the ETAuto that Vitara Brezza, which is the upcoming compact SUV from the house of India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki will go on sale across all dealerships in the country on March 21. Bookings have already been accepted at Rs 21,000 for the Vitara Brezza. Vitara Brezza will mostly likely will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport, and Mahindra TUV300.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza made its world debut at the Auto Expo 2016 and will be company’s entry into the compact SUV segment, which is quite in demand in India. The Brezza Compact SUV is expected to be offered in four variants, namely LDi, VDi, ZDi and ZDi+. Though Maruti’s closest rival, Hyundai launched its compact SUV Creta, which is still a bestselling product in its segment. But, Vitara Brezza is expected to price below the Creta, making a plus point for the brand. The Maruti Vitara Brezza will most likely range between 6.5 to 9 lakh.
Under the hood, the Vitara Brezza will be powered by a Fiat sourced 1.3-litre DDIS unit that will generate 90 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque. The unit will be connected to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Brezza compact SUV will be launched in the diesel variant only, while the petrol variants will be manufactured in the country, but it will only be for export purpose.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza will have localisation level of nearly 98 percent where the company invested development cost for the Brezza of about Rs 860 crore.
