Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to expand its SUV lineup and one of the upcoming offerings from the brand will be the much awaited Vitara. The car is expected to launch here sometime in 2019 and ahead of that, Maruti is testing car in India. It has been spied testing in the country again and this time without any camouflage. The SUV will be sold through the premium Nexa retail chain and it will challenge the successful Hyundai Creta.
Upon launch, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara will be positioned above the Vitara Brezza and it is expected to be available at a starting price around Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). No wonder, this will grab much attention post-launch in India with its global standard design and upmarket stance. The car features a stylish and aggressive design that is significantly different compared to the Vitara Brezza.
Not only exterior, the cabin of the SUV is also different looking compared to the Vitara Brezza. It will certainly come sporting a load of premium features and advanced safety measures as well. The SUV will certainly boast a spacious interior making the journey experience comfortable for sure.
The Suzuki Vitara gets a range of petrol engine options in the European market and in India, this SUV is expected to be available with a 1.4-litre motor. This petrol engine will be capable of churning out around 140 bhp of peak power and 230 Nm of peak torque. Also, there would be an in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel motor or a 1.6-litre diesel engine. It will get a 6-speed manual gearbox and an automatic unit as well. So far, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara is going to be a very exciting model in the highly competitive SUV segment of Indian car market.
