Maruti Suzuki India is all set to launch a new model in the lineup. This new model will be sold through its popular dealership chain - Nexa. The new Maruti model will have six seats and it will share the underpinnings with Ertiga MPV. Maruti’s new vehicle is more likely to make its Indian debut on 21st August 2019. The upcoming six-seater Maruti’ test-mule was spotted some weeks ago in Maharashtra (Pune) that revealed a few interior and styling details.
The upcoming Maruti crossover MPV is expected to share body panels with Ertiga, however, it will receive different front styling, Ciaz-like headlamps, a tall chrome grille and daytime LED running lamps. In addition, it will have an increased ride-height and additional body cladding throughout the sides for a rugged look.
Buyers can expect the new six-seater crossover MPV to have two captain chairs for the middle row as well as two-passenger bench seats for the third row. Moreover, it will have an all-black cabin and share the big interiors, such as steering wheel and dashboard with the present Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Also, it will include the latest SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Though, the standard model of Ertiga has yet to receive the latest infotainment system.
Speaking of the engine, the Maruti six-seater crossover MPV will be powered by a new 1.5-litre petrol engine, similar to the Ertiga and Ciaz. It is expected to get BS6 emission norms on this engine. The model will not have a diesel variant as per the sources. The engine will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission and it might get a four-speed torque-convertor automatic gearbox later.
This Maruti three-row crossover MPV will be a great addition in the line-up and it will be quite interesting to witness how the carmaker positions this model. The upcoming Maruti crossover MPV will rival against Mahindra Marazzo, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
