India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India is working on an all new premium hatchback, which will be positioned above the company's top seller Swift and rival against the likes of Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo, next generation Honda Jazz and others. The vehicle is under development as of now and is expected to be launched by 2015.

While on one side Honda and Hyundai are busy readying next generation Jazz and i20 respectively, Maruti Suzuki wishes to bring in a premium hatchback to rival both. However, the company has Ritz and Swift in its line-up, it lacks a premium hatchback, which can directly compete against the VW Polo and i20. So, this new hatchback will be launched with an aim to fill the gap.

Codnamed as YRA, the new premium hatchback will be manufactured in India and Hungary. Hungary will look after the European market. According to the reported published in Financial Express, this proposed vehicle will be sold under an entirely new brand and there will also be a new Ritz in 2015.

Other than the new hatchback and facelifted Ritz, MSI is also planning to launch the new generation SX4 and a A-Star, Estilo replacement. The next generation SX4 is expected to make its debut at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.
