Maruti has silently launched the Swift DLX edition at a sticker price of Rs. 4.54 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) in the country. Being based on the entry-level LXi/LDi trim, Maruti Swift DLX Edition carries an array of additional features while mechanically being the same as regular models. The bookings for the special edition hatchback have already started at all the company dealerships with deliveries promised by August 2016. The Swift DLX diesel has been priced at Rs. 5.95 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
As for features, Maruti Swift DLX Edition comes with a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, central locking, MID in the instrument console, front and rear power windows and front-door-mounted speakers. At the outside, the special edition of Swift flaunts blackened out B pillars, fog lamps and body-coloured ORVMs and door handles. The reason behind the introduction of this special edition is seen the costantly deteriorating sales numbers of Swift hatch. The buyers have inclined more towards the recently launched Baleno hatch due to its upmarket appearance, impeccable interior and avant-garde features. Maruti Baleno has amassed over 1 Lakh bookings in just 8 months and has a general waiting period of over 3 months.
Under the hood, the Swift DLX carries the same set of petrol and diesel engine as the standard models. The petrol variants are powered by the 1.2L K-Series engine which develops a maximum power of 83bhp, while returning a mileage of 20.4kmpl. Talking about the DLX diesel, it gets the 1.3L DDiS engine which churns out 74bhp of top power and 25.2kmpl of fuel economy. Both the engines are only available with a 5-speed manual transmission. Just so you know, Maruti has started testing the new-generation Swift in Europe, which would, in all likelihood, would premiere at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. It is being believed to be based on the Baleno's lightweight architecture, with fresh styling and all-new interior.
