Maruti's next new product launch in the country will be the SX4 S-Cross, which it intends to bring by the first quarter of 2015. Although, the crossover has been spotted as a test mule several times on Indian roads before with heavy camouflage, but this time around, our friends at Team-BHP have been succeeded in capturing the interiors of the S-Cross. Needless to say, the SX4 S-Cross shares majority of its interior components with existing Maruti cars.
Going by the spy-shots that we have, the spied car seems to be a diesel one as the tachometer reads 6000rpm and it has a manual transmission. Talking about the interior, the S-Cross crossover boasts black theme with silver detailing. Also, several parts have been sourced directly from the Swift hatchback and Ciaz sedan sans the start/stop button, surprisingly. For the time being, even, Swift comes equipped with this feature and as Maruti would price the crossover somewhere around Rs. 10 Lakhs, at least this feature along with several premium ones like automatic climate control, power folding wing mirrors, a touchscreen infotainment system, alloy wheels must be there to justify the price tag.
It appears as if the spied variant in the images is an entry-level variant of the crossover. Under the hood, the engines for both petrol as well as diesel fuel trims are still not announced by the company. However, in European markets, the crossover comes loaded with twin 1.6L engines in petrol and diesel guise. The heavier 1.6L diesel mill is sourced from Fiat, like the 1.3L Multi-jet. Also, the SX4 S-Cross is expected to don dual front airbags as standard safety features.
Upon its arrival in the nation, it would lock horns with the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra Scorpio, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai ix25.
