The homegrown automajor and country’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki will have to increase production in existing plants to achieve the rise in demand, which the manufacturer will face post the launch of the new Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The company is making efforts to do so, till the new plant in Gujarat goes on stream by January 2017.
The company is set to close FY16 with a capacity of 1.45 million units and plans to add 1-1.2 lakh units in the next financial year. While, this increased output will be achieved by increasing the production at both Gurgaon and Manesar plants. The Maruti Suzuki plant in Gurgaon has a production capacity of 700,000 units per annum, while the Manesar plant has an annual production capacity of 800,000 units.
Reportedly, the company’s new manufacturing unit in Gujarat will have an initial capacity of 250,000 units per annum. The plant will be operational by January 2017 but the brand may still face capacity constraints with the launch of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza which is schedule for a launch in March, and other products like Ignis and Baleno RS, which will launch in the second half this year.
