India’s leading car giant, Maruti Suzuki India is gearing up for the most awaited motoring event in Asia, Auto Expo 2018. The carmaker will not only display a slew of upcoming models & concepts but will also launch its much awaited, new Maruti Swift 2018 at the grandiose event amid galore fanfare. While the main attraction at the Maruti India’s pavilion will be the new Maruti Swift 2018 and the Concept Future S, the automaker will also preview the e-Survivor SUV concept.

Featuring a quirky styling and futuristic design, the Suzuki e-Survivor concept resembles a small off-roader. The highlight of the open-top, two-seat SUV is the high ground clearance and extremely short (almost negligent) overhangs. While elements like chunky wheel arches and large knobby tyres are in line with its off-road characters.

Underpinning the ladder-frame chassis, it features an electric motor in each wheel, which means it gets a total of four electric motors. Besides, the Suzuki e-Survivor concept also comes with an all-wheel drivetrain.

The interior of the Suzuki e-Survivor concept is layered with a spherical display that shows the car and its immediate environs. It uses sensors (mounted around the SUV) to relay this information to the screen.

Aside from this, Maruti Suzuki India will also take the opportunity to educate the visitors about the hybrid technology through functioning cutaways of a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain. These cutaways will be used for explaining the functioning of such hybrid powertrains, their benefits in terms of fuel economy and feasibility in India. The company currently offers mild hybrid technology (SHVS) in some of its vehicles. Gearing up to embrace electric technology by 2030, as probed by the government of India, the company has also tied up with Toshiba for setting up a lithium-ion battery plant in Gujarat and is planning to launch EVs in India, jointly with its partner Toyota by 2020.
