Maruti Vitara Brezza Gets 1.72 Lakh Bookings

Snapshot: The Vitara Brezza has a waiting period of nearly 5-6 months, despite the production been ramped up a few times in past couple of months.

Maruti Vitara Brezza has turned the sub 4-meter SUV segment upside down with overwhelming response from buyers and several records being shattered. Now, the new blue-eyed pot of the company has given it yet another prospect of rejoicing as it has crossed 1.72 Lakh bookings in the country. The Vitara Brezza has a waiting period of nearly 5-6 months, despite the production been ramped up a few times in past couple of months. The country's largest automaker has already retailed over 60,000 units of the sub-compact SUV in the Indian market.

Maruti Vitara Brezza went on sale in March this year and within eight months, it had touched the 1 Lakh booking mark. The SUV outsold Ford EcoSport - its arch rival - several times in monthly sales. Recently, it cracked 10,000 sales mark for the second time as the company sold a total of 10,056 units in October, 2016. Maruti had also sold 10,000+ units of the Vitara Brezza in July 2016. If the same sales momentum is maintained for a next couple more months, then it could well reach the 1 Lakh sales mark by the end of this year, itself. The Vitara Brezza is sold via regular Maruti showrooms, while the company has introduced an online customisation program, named iCreate, which has a total of five accessory packages on offer: Sports Velocity, Sports Accelerate, Glamour Elegance, Glamour Glitz, and Urban Dynamic.

The Vitara Brezza SUV is available in diesel fuel trim only with the Fiat-sourced 1.3L DDiS diesel engine which generates 89bhp of top power and 200Nm of peak torque. It is linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The company has plans to launch petrol variants of the SUV next year. It is being reported that the petrol variants would come loaded with the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged Boosterjet engine, which is available with the Euro-spec Baleno and the upcoming India-spec Baleno RS. Speculations are also rife that Maruti is keen to introduce an AMT variant of the SUV, but nothing is official as of now. Maruti Vitara Brezza comes in a price range of Rs. 7.19-9.88 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, New Delhi) with a total of seven variants: LDI, LDI (O), VDI, VDI (O), ZDI, ZDI+ and ZDI+ Dual Tone.
