Maruti Vitara Brezza would be officially launched tomorrow - March 8, 2016 - in the country, while deliveries are promised from March 21. However, prior to the launch, it is being revealed that it would be most fuel efficient SUV in India with an ARAI-certified mileage of 24.3kmpl. Just to add to your knowledge, the Vitara Brezza is the first product of the country's largest automaker to be totally developed in India.
Maruti Vitara Brezza would lock horns with the existing crop of sub-compact SUVs like Ford EcoSport & Mahindra TUV 300, which have a fuel economy of 22.27kmpl and 18.49kmpl, respectively. Even if we take a closer look at the mileage figures of bigger compact SUVs like Renault Duster 85PS (20.45kmpl), Hyundai Creta 1.4L (21.38kmpl), and Maruti's own S-Cross (23.65kmpl), then also Vitara Brezza is leading the pack. Apparently, the bookings for the compact SUV have started at the regular company dealerships as it would not be retailed through Maruti's premium NEXA dealership range.
The compact SUV would be offered with driver's airbag as standard safety feature across the entire variant line-up. However, dual front airbags and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) would be available as optional features with the entry-level trim. The company is contemplating an array of customization options for the Vitara Brezza. For the time being, it would be launched in diesel guise only with the 1.3L 4-cylinder DDiS engine, producing 89bhp of top power and 200Nm of highest torque. It would be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, while an AMT variant and petrol variants are expected to be launched at a later stage. It is assumed to come in a price bracket of Rs. 6-9 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
