Maruti Vitara Brezza is inching closer to the sales miletone of 1 Lakh units in the country. According to an ET Auto report, the company has sold more than 90,000 units of the micro-SUV so far since its launch in March 2016. Furthermore, Maruti is yet to deliver nearly 45,000 Vitara Brezza SUVs as the waiting period has escalated to 5-6 months for certain variants with total bookings well beyond 2 Lakhs. The Vitara Brezza could well emerge as the fastest product to touch the 1 Lakh sales milestone, beating Hyundai Creta which took 12 months to achieve this feat.
According to an industry expert, "when consumers are moving towards larger cars and SUVs, Vitara Brezza with its aggressive pricing hits the right spot backed by the support of Maruti Suzuki's largest sales and service network." As we recently told you that, Maruti has commenced trial production at its new Gujrat production facility with Baleno hatch, the waiting period for the Vitara Brezza is expected to come down in coming months. The company, on an average, develops 12,000-14,000 units of Baleno and 9,000-10,000 units of Vitara Brezza. And, now with Baleno production shifted to Gujrat, Maruti would increase the production of the sub 4-meter SUV in an attempt to bring down the waiting period.
Maruti Vitara Brezza was introduced in diesel fuel trim only with a total of 5 variants: LDI, VDI, VDI+, ZDI and ZDI+. However, unlike the recent Maruti products, it is being retailed via the regular company dealerships not the NEXA premium outlets. It was speculated that the company is contemplating introduction of petrol variants with the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged Boosterjet engine, which would debut with Baleno RS on March 3, 2017 in the Indian market. Maruti Vitara Brezza challenges the likes of Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300 in the country, while being priced between Rs. 7.26-9.92 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi). The SUV also comes with option of exterior customization via iCreate.
