Maruti Suzuki, just a week back, revealed the first teaser image of its first ever sub 4-meter SUV. Being named as Maruti Vitara Brezza, it would have its global premiere at the 2016 Auto Expo in February, alongside Maruti Ignis and Maruti Baleno RS Concept. And, now the country's largest automaker has developed a dedicated micro-site for the sub-compact SUV, which has gone live. In fact, the company dealers have started e-mailing the first look to prospective buyers, with a tentative launch scheduled around April 2016.
Being fully designed and developed by Maruti’s India R&D team, the Vitara Brezza would not be sold via the company's premium NEXA dealerships. As for exterior styling, the Vitara Brezza sub-compact SUV would flaunt a distinctive front fascia with LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The front bumper would house the radiator grille, complimented well by the foglamps. The interior cabin would be identical to that of Swift. Though, a new centre console would make its way. As for features, the Vitara Brezza would get a touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system, keyless entry with push button start, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and automatic climate control.
Mechanically, Maruti Vitara Brezza would be introduced in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. The engines in both the guises would be shared with Swift. The petrol variants would be powered by the 1.2L, 4-cylinder K-Series engine, while the Fiat-sourced 1.3L, 4-cylinder Multi-jet engine would be at the helm of affairs for the diesel variants. Both the engines would be linked to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, while an AMT gearbox could also be in offing. Maruti Vitara Brezza compact SUV would be chellenging the likes of Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV 300 and yet-to-be-launched Tata Nexon.
