Maruti Vitara Brezza has been officially unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida, India. The Maruti's first compact SUV has been fully designed and developed in India, while it takes on the likes of Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300. The Vitara Brezza would only be launched in diesel fuel trim in and around March 2016 in the country. There is no word on the pricing yet, but we expect it to be in a range of Rs. 5-8 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) as the compact SUV has 98 percent of local content.
Maruti Vitara Brezza would be offered in a total of three trims: Glamour, Urban, and Sporty - with 198mm of ground clearance and 328-litres of boot space. It would be retailed via regular company dealerships, putting an end to all the speculations that stated it would be sold through Maruti's premium NEXA outlets. The sub 4-meter SUV gets driver airbag as standard safety feature across the entire variant line-up. As for comfort features, the Vitara Brezza's top-end variants would comes loaded with automatic climate control, height adjustable driver seat, steering mounted audio controls, rear centre armrest, SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and navigation, engine start/stop button and cruise control.
Mechanically, the Vitara Brezza is powered by Maruti's tried and tested 1.3L, 4-cylinder Multi-jet engine. Just so you know, the aforementioned Fiat-sourced motor does duties to Swift, Swift DZire, Ciaz and S-Cross. In case of Vitara Brezza, it belts out 89bhp of top power and 200Nm of peak torque while linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is no 4X4 or even an automatic variant of Vitara Brezza on offer, at least for the time being. The bookings for the compact SUV are expected to commence shortly.
