Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch Wagon R AMT in the country as the hatch has already been spotted at a dealership. Just so you know, Wagon R would be the third model in Maruti's portfolio to come with AMT or Auto Gear Shift (AGS), after the Celerio and Alto K10. The AMT gearbox, in all likelihood, would be offered in the mid-level VXi trim, with the same 1.0L petrol motor will be at helm.
Maruti Wagon R Vxi is offered with couple of premium safety features like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and airbags. However, it is still not known whether the AMT variant would carry these features. The Wagon R VXi comes with an array of features such as front foglamps, a keyless entry system, a power steering with tilt adjustment, power windows, a manual air-conditioning system, electrically adjustable mirrors, a music system, a rear wiper and washer, and 14-inch steel wheels. All the aforementioned features are expected to make their way in the AMT variant as well.
Mechanically, Maruti Wagon R AMT would come loaded with the same 1.0L, 3-cylinder K10B all-aluminium petrol engine. This engine would develop a maximum power of 67bhp at 6200rpm and peak torque of 90Nm at 3500rpm. The 5-speed manual transmission would be replaced by the 5-speed AMT gearbox. Currently, the Wagon R AMT has no competitor in the country and the pricing is expected to be around Rs. 30,000 more than the manual variant.
