Maruti YBA (Codename), which will be offered as a Sub-4 meter SUV, was recently snapped testing in Rajasthan, giving a clear idea about what we can expect from Maruti Suzuki in a compact SUV segment. These are the clearest spyshot of the model in a production avatar. The brand is gearing up so as to reveal it in the Auto Expo 2016.
Talking about the exterior, the front fascia appears to get a bold design with a hood scoop, highlighted by the large honeycomb grille, projector headlights with secondary halogen unit and integrated LED daytime running lights. The brand has also added a style through its wheel, giving a 16-inch wheel with 5-multi-spoke rims with a dull finish. Moving further back, the wheel arches seem to be wide, giving it a broad look, a sloping roof with integrated spoiler and a slight bulge-out taillights.
On the inside, the YBA will be offered in an all-black interior with silver inserts, the centre console in a piano-black finish, a touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system and the steering mounted keys is also likely to be offered looking at the spyshot. As far as the interior is concerned, the model will borrow many of the parts and components with the Swift.
Speaking of the engine, the Maruti YBA will share its powertrain from the Swift model, and the engine line-up includes the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel, both paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. Looking at its immediate rival the Ford EcoSport AT, the brand could offer a petrol version featuring 6-speed Powershift dual-clutch gearbox.
Reportedly, Maruti Suzuki could name it as the “Maruti Vitara Brezza” and is expected to be revealed next month with a market launch set for the Auto Expo 2016.
