Maruti Suzuki has started the production of its upcoming YRA premium hatchback (Baleno globally) at its manufacturing unit in Manesar, Haryana. Having said that, the first unit of the Maruti YRA was rolled out recently, with rumours suggesting a tentative India launch around the Diwali in November 2015. Just so you know, Maruti Suzuki Baleno aka YRA hatch would make its global debut next week at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Maruti YRA has been spied several times, even undisguised, on the Indian roads several times. Although, there isn't much information out about the technical specificaions and features, but we certainly know that it would be underpinning an all-new lightweight platform. The diesel variants of the Maruti YRA, in all likelihood, would be powered by the company's tried and tested Fiat-sourced 1.3L Multi-jet engine. The engines for the India-spec petrol variants are still not confirmed, but the introduction of the company's new 1.0L turbocharged Boosterjet engine seems bleak, at least for the time being. Just so you know, Maruti YRA would be positioned above Swift hatch and well could become company's second vehicle to be retailed via its new premium NEXA dealerships after the S-Cross.
Besides India, Maruti Suzuki would also sell the YRA aka Baleno for European and Japanese markets, with a market launch in Europe taking place in the first half of 2016. It would be up against the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo in the country. The YRA hatch is expected to be priced in a domain of Rs. 5.5-9 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in India. In case you are interested to know, Maruti Ertiga facelift would be launched in India next month in October with SHVS technology.
