Maruti’s MD Kenichi Ayukawa Honoured with ‘Best CEO - Multinational Company’ FILA 2016

Maruti Suzuki’s MD and CEO, Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, MD & CEO have been honoured with ‘Best CEO – Multinational Company’ at Forbes India Leadership Awards (FILA) 2016 in Mumbai. Ayukawa was selected for driving “deep-rooted changes in the organization” and steering the company towards the “next phase of sustainable growth”. The jury has recognized Mr. Ayukawa’s achievements as a CEO adaptability to change, strategic approach, vision for India, and innovative thinking.

The Award was adjudged by Harsh Mariwala, Chairman, Marico Ltd. and included Sanjay Nayar, CEO, KKR India; Noshir Kaka, Managing Director of McKinsey India, Zia Mody, Managing Partner, AZB & Partners; Roopa Kudva, Managing Director of Omidyar Network and Manish Sabharwal, Chairman & Co-Founder of TeamLease Services.

Earlier, Ayukawa served in the US, Japan and Pakistan and was appointed as MD & CEO of Maruti Suzuki in 2013. Under his directorship, the company has launched one the most successful models such as Baleno, Brezza, Ciaz, Celerio and S Cross. Moreover, Maruti has also redefined the car buying experience for the customer its new channel, NEXA.

In his leadership, Maruti introduced the popular Auto Gear Shift technology in the Indian passenger car market, starting with Celerio in 2014 and after that, in other popular models like Alto K10, WagonR and DZire Diesel along with mild hybrid technology (SHVS), introduced in Ciaz and Ertiga, has boosted sales and supporting the government’s FAME initiative. Enhancing passenger safety, it has also offered dual airbags and ABS with EBD in most of its models (either as standard or as an optional in all variants).

Maruti Suzuki is all set  with its future plans as the company is lined up with several launches that includes Ignis Compact Crossover and Baleno RS.
