Luxury SUVs are the talk of the town now-a-days and many Supercars manufactures are contemplating their options to enter this genre. Joining the likes of Bentley and Lamborghini, is the new SUV from the Italian luxury car manufacturer named Levante. After much of speculations, rumors and spy shots, Maserati has confirmed that they will introduce the SUV by the end of next year.
Preceded by the Kubang Concept which was first showcased in the 2003, the Levante will be based on Ghibli sedan. The Levante will be manufactured at the Maserati's Mirafiori plant, Turin, Italy and will contribute to the Maserati's plan of selling 85,000 vehicles by 2018. Other models including Alfieri and 2017 Quattroporte will also join Levante in coming years.
Maserati will leave no stone unturned in making the Levante a success, and hence will offer varied engines in the SUV. The power will come from either of the three engines decided for the SUV, starting from a 3.0 litre twin turbo V6 unit, capable of producing 410 hp of power, a 3.8 litre twin turbo V8 unit, capable of producing 530 hp of power, and a 3.0 litre V6 turbo diesel, rated at 271 hp.
All the units will be connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the Q4 AWD and latter diesel engine is expected to be the number one choice in the Europe. All units will be and it will also come in a right-hand drive configuration, in early 2016.
