Maserati Levante, the first-ever SUV from the Italian luxury automaker, had its world premiere at the recently conluded 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Now, the company has announced the price of the luxury SUV in the United States of America. It is priced at $72,000 (Around Rs. 48 Lakhs) for the entry-level variant and goes upto $83,000 (Around Rs. 55 Lakhs) for the range-topping Levante S grade, while it goes on sale from July 2016 with bookings starting by next month.
Maserati Levante carries an exquisite list of luxury equipments in form of leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control system, 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, power adjustable steering wheel, auto-dimming mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, power liftgate, rear privacy glass and 8-speaker audio system. In addition, panoramic glass sunroof, a Luxury package, and a Zegna Edition package are also on offer as optional. Underpinning the same architecture as the Quattroporte and Ghibli, the new Levante SUV's production has already started at the company's Mirafiori production facility in Turin, Italy.
Mechanically, the base model of Levante is powered by an updated 3.0L V6 Twin-Turbo petrol engine. This engine develops a maximum power of 345bhp and peak torque of 500Nm. It does a 0-100kmph sprint in just 6 seconds, while clocking a top speed of 251kmph. The engine is retuned for the Maserati S as it belts out 424bhp and 580Nm, while touching the 100kmph mark from standstill in a mere 5.2 seconds with top speed of 264kmph. Both the variants get an 8-speed automatic transmission and the company's “Q4” intelligent all-wheel drive system as standard. Fot those asking, the new SUV gets plethora of safety features in form of adaptive cruise control with automatic Start&Stop function, forward collision warning, blind spot alert, surround view camera, automatic brake assist system and lane departure warning. The Levante SUV would also be launched in India by the end of 2016 or early 2017.
