Last week, Mazda officially teased the motoring world with its all-new Hazumi Concept, which showed just a little more than an aggressive headlamp design. Now however, in what seems to be a planned leak, the first image of the Mazda Hazumi Concept in all its glory has been released on to the internet. The Hazumi Concept is scheduled to take its first public bow at the upcoming 2014 Geneva Motor Show and previews the third-generation Mazda 2 subcompact car, which is expected to go on sale in late 2015.
From Mazda’s official press release last week, it is understood that the name ‘Hazumi’ means ‘spring up’ or ‘bound’ in Japanese and is “particularly well-suited to a small car that appears to be bursting with energy.” And from the looks of the Hazumi Concept, we absolutely have to agree. It embraces the Japanese automaker’s ‘kodo’ design language, already seen on the Mazda CX-5, Mazda 6 and the Mazda 3. The Concept features a striking exterior with a prominent grille that is flanked by LED-infused headlights. There is also a sporty front spoiler, a stylish greenhouse and massive alloy wheels. Other notable features include, a black roof, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and aerodynamic side skirts.
The Mazda Hazumi Concept will reportedly, target female buyers and will also spawn a Toyota variant that will go into production in the summer of 2015.
