A company like McLaren, which is famous for manufacturing limited number of vehicles, when creates a special operations division to further tweak the performance and beauty of their car, creates an interest among enthusiasts - what can they add further to this car? But McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has decided to take the game to another level altogether and they are revealing some limited edition cars back to back.
The latest to join the list is the limited edition 650S, launched to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the McLaren F1 GTR taking victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Only 50 of such cars will be ever built and they are based on the chassis of the race-winning #01 F1 GTR. All the 50 cars will be a coupe and will be heavily inspired from the F1 GTR.
Since it is inspired from the race-winning car, it will be featuring a roof snorkel and small fender vents at the front. The wheels/alloys are specially forged by MSO and unique in itself, and will get the orange brake calipers for it. Also, the car will get a carbon fiber splitter, rear bumper and rear diffuser.
Under the hood, there will be no mechanical changes and it will get the same 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 engine, capable of producing 650 hp, which is enough to take the car from 0-100 kmph in less than 3 seconds and 0-200 kmph in mere 8.4 seconds.
All the 50 units of the machine will come finished in an MSO special dark blue color.
