McLaren has a history of building some of the most exotic and fastest Supercars, and now they have done it again. McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has recently showcased a special edition P1, featuring a Satin Volcano Red paint. The special edition car is not for sale though, as all the 375 P1s McLaren decided to build are already sold.
The special edition is a one-off customized car, as reworked by the MSO personalization program, to meet the demand of some unknown customer. The car also features several other glossy highlights and the one special among them is a 24 carat gold-plated exhaust heat shield along with several other enhancements, done as a throwback to its iconic predecessor, the famous F1.
A certain McLaren was spotted in China few days back, wearing a tacky green and yellow exteriors. Many say that it was not the work of MSO, as they do very limited and specific high end customization work, which can be seen in the interiors of this P1, which features a noticeable red colored center stack and stitching while some of the areas around the buttons and knobs come with a glossy finish mirroring the exterior.
MSO doesn't work on the mechanicals of the car and refrain to the finishing work only. Hence the car will get the same 3.6 litre twinturbo V8 engine capable of producing 727 bhp of power and 719 Nm of torque. The car is a hybrid and hence gets two motors developing 176 bhp of power. The combined power reaches a whopping 903 bhp of power and 978 Nm of total torque.
