McLaren racing group this year had revealed its racing car McLaren P1 during the 2013 Geneva motor show. It had also announced that it would manufacture 375 units of this model. But the auto car UK reports points out that the company has surprisingly sold out the production. All the production places in Asia Pacific, America and Middle East have been sold. Now the car is only available in Europe with few units left and it is unlikely that the company will allocate them to other regions. The reason for the company to take this decision is to maintain the exclusivity of this hyper car in every region. The reports show that 90% of the customers are interested in the unique design of McLaren Special Operations. The price of the car is quoted at 1 million pounds.
The hybrid car P1 uses twin turbo 3.8 liter V8 engine that is mid mounted to an electric motor. The engine produces a power of 903bhp and a torque of 720Nm, which is greater than its predecessor. The performance figures entitle the car as the fastest car in the world. The weight of the car is about 1400kg which is 20% higher than the 1137kg F1’s. The car has a top speed of 217mph which is lesser than the F1’s.The McLaren P1 accelerates by 62mph in less than 3 secs and 186mph in 17sec. This makes the car five seconds faster than the F1. Overall the car has 23% of improvement over the F1’s.
The interior is mainly focused on driver and exterior is fabricated mostly with carbon fiber. It uses bespoke Perilli tires on its alloy wheels. The front wheels are added with cooling ducts. The brakes of the car are made of carbon ceramic material.
Mac Lauren P1 is at its best in keeping the environment clean, its F1 style DRS assures less CO2 emission of 200g/km and the car can cover about 10km only with electric power.
