Looks like the compact SUV segment is the most high flying segment in the country today and no manufacturer wants to miss the chance to encash the opportunity. Mercedes Benz is also relying high on the segment and to cater the audience, they have launched their compact SUV at Rs 32.75 lakh for the diesel engine and Rs 36 lakh for the petrol engine. The GLA will be available in three trims namely Petrol Style, Petrol Sports and Diesel Sports.
Mercedes Benz GLA will be available in two engines, petrol (GLA 200) and diesel (GLA 200 CDI). The GLA 200 will be powered by a 1.8 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine producing 181 bhp @ 5500rpm and 300Nm @ 1200 to 4000rpm. The diesel variant will be powered by a 2.2 liter four cylinder motor producing 135 bhp @ 3400 rpm and 300Nm torque @ 1400-3000rpm. Both the versions will be paired by a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox.
The Mercedes GLA is not only a good looking car, it does have an exhaustive list of features including a panoramic sunroof, twin pipe exhaust system, 18 inch alloys, ambient lighting, rear seat entertainment system and ARTICO upholstery. It also boasts of safety features like 7 airbags, Anti Slip Regulation, ABS, BAS, ESP, curve dynamic assist and hill start assist. The GLA also gets an Avantgarde grille and the front is a combination of A and B-class.
The Mercedes Benz GLA will be pitted against the likes of Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Volvo V40, but its sheer looks are enough to attract the costumers. The prices of all the three variants are mentioned below (ex showroom, Delhi) :
