We are less than a week away from the official unveiling of Mercedes-AMG’s brand spanking new C63 Coupe and unsurprisingly the teasing game is still going strong. Don’t be quick to characterize this as simply being a mini S63 Coupe as the styling differences between the two are quite obvious, especially at the back where the smaller car comes with a new look.
Compared to the C63 Sedan upon which is based, the coupe has wider front tires and comes with a significantly lower roofline that slopes towards the rear to enable a sleek look. The side mirrors have been mounted lower on the door and there’s a menacing quad exhaust setup at the back denoting this is a fully-fledged Mercedes-AMG product. The interior cabin will be largely carried over from the sedan, but with new seats and quite possibly some tweaks to separate the two models even further.
We are not expecting any surprises in terms of what will power the high-performance coupe as it will utilize the now familiar twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine which will be available in two states of tune: a base version with 469 bhp and 648 Nm and a hotter S model with 503 bhp and 698 Nm. The latter should have enough muscle to grant the C63 Coupe with a 0-100 kmph sprint in less than 4 seconds while the top speed should be very close to the magical 300 kmph mark.
Mercedes-AMG will stage the world premiere of the model on August 19 most likely at a special event organized at home in Germany. It will then travel to the Frankfurt Motor Show where it will be exhibited alongside the regular versions of the C-Class Coupe starting mid-September. Sales of all models should begin by the end of this year and most likely the cars will begin hitting Indian dealerships in the first half of 2016.
