After thrilling the world with the most fascinating performance cars, Mercedes-AMG has launched the much anticipated GT R and the GT Roadster in India. With the launch of these two beastly cars, Mercedes-Benz, one of India’s leading luxury car maker, has strengthened its hold on the performance car segment in the country.
Mr Roland Folger, the MD and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India has said that there couldn’t be a way better to celebrate the 50 glorious years of AMG in India than doing it with the introduction of the new Mercedes-AMG GT R and the GT Roadster. The introduction of these two cars is the evidence of the growing importance of India as a market for performance cars.
The Mercedes-AMG GT R is designed with the best aerodynamic features. This performance car also features a 9-way adjustable traction control system, Active rear-wheel steering and adjustable coil-over suspension with electronic control.
The Mercedes-AMG GT R bears a V8, 4.0-litre bi-turbo motor which thrusts out a highest power of 585 bhp at 6,250 revolutions per minute and a maximum torque of 700 Nm at 1,900 to 5,500 revs per minute. With an acceleration of 0-100 kms per hour in just 3.6 seconds, it boasts a top speed of 318 kms per hour.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster is the open-top sibling of the GT R. The fabric roof can open and close in merely 11 seconds at up to speeds of 50 kms per hour. However, the engine in this car is slightly detuned than the other car. The V8 4.0-litre bi-turbo engine in this car produces a maximum power of 476 bhp at 6,000 revolutions per minute and a peak torque of 630 Nm at 1,700-5,000 revolutions per minute. The 0-100 kms per hour acceleration takes 4 seconds and it can it a top speed of 302 kms per hour.
The Mercedes-AMG GT R and GT Roadster are customisable at the Mercedes-Benz designo customisation platform. The GT R and GT Roadster are priced at Rs. 2.23 crore and Rs. 2.19 crore respectively as the exclusive showroom price pan India.
