Shaping up to be even more appealing and quicker than the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Sedan, the coupe version will have a considerably sleeker exterior with a sloped roofline and a redesigned rear end flaunting four exhaust tips and a trunk lid spoiler. This is more than just a coupe conversion of the sedan as the coupe will be lower and is set to receive larger front tires which should provide better grip, especially when going fast around the corners.
This single teaser image was shot in Germany at the famous Hockenheim track and as you would expect from a teaser, the prototype was fully camouflaged to hide the appealing design. As you can easily see, it won’t be just a mini version of the S-Class Coupe and it has all the spicy ingredients necessary to go head to head with arch rival BMW M4 Coupe.
We know for sure it will be powered by the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine from the C63 Sedan and most likely it will be available with 469 bhp and 648 Nm while the S version depicted here is getting 503 bhp and 698 Nm. Taking into account the sedan in S specification needs 4 seconds to conquer the 0-100 kmph sprint, chances are the coupe will be a tad quicker so expect the run to take as little as 3.9 seconds.
A full reveal of the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe in both standard and S guise will take place online on August 19, before the models will head to the Frankfurt Motor Show in mid-September when the rest of the C-Class Coupe models will also be unveiled. Sales should commence in Europe before the end of the year while India will likely get the cars in 2016.
Following the coupe’s release, Mercedes-Benz will further expand the C-Class family by launching a cabriolet version due in 2016 which will also spawn a fully-fledged AMG model.
