Mercedes-Benz India has announced the launch of AMG SLC 43 on July 26, 2016 in the country. Being originally the facelifted SLK roadster, it would be introduced only in the top-end AMG trim. It would be locking horns with the BMW Z4 roadster, while the pricing is expected to be above Rs. 1 Crore (Ex. Showroom). Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 would come with several cosmetic changes, while getting a powerplant under the bonnet.
Speaking about the cosmetic changes, the AMG SLC 43 flaunts a new front fascia, which includes a new bumper and redesigned headlamps with LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The side profile is retained from the SLK roadster, while the rear end boasts of a new bumper, revised LED tail-lamp cluster and fresh exhaust pipes. Inside the cabin, the roadster gets new steering wheel and instrument cluster. There are revised trim inserts, while the Comand display system is bigger than before. Additionally, the opening and closing of roof is totally automatic, and no longer requires the manual operation of the luggage cover. Needless to say, the AMG SLC 43 would also feature AMG sports seats and AMG body kit to distinguish that from the standard SLC.
Mercedes Benz AMG 43 SLC would be powered by a new 3.0L V6 twin-turbocharged engine which would develop a maximum power of 367bhp and peak torque of 500Nm. It fills in the shoes of the old 5.5L naturally-aspirated V8 motor which powers the ongoing SLK 55 roadster. The new 3.0L engine would be linked to the newly-developed 9-speed automatic transmission. It would sprint to 100kmph from standstill in just 4.7 seconds, while clocking an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. For those asking, Mercedes-Benz India would also introduce an India-first service initiative, named as "My Mercedes, My service", on July 19, 2016 in the country. According to the company, it would be a gamechanger in the after-sales segment.
