Mercedes Benz India have rolled out the Edition 1 variants of the A-Class and the B-Class hatchback in the country today at Rs 26.1 lakh and Rs 28.75 lakh respectively (Both prices are ex-showroom, Mumbai.) The special Edition 1 variants celebrate the success the German automaker has had with the launch of the A-Class and the B-Class in the Indian market.
Only 100 units of both the A-Class and B-Class Edition 1 variants will be built and sold in the country - all of which, are being offered only in the diesel guise. Three exterior colour options are on the offer: White, Silver and Red.
Like most of the other Mercedes Benz cars sold globally with a similar suffix, the Edition 1 package adds news features to the diesel variants of the regular A-Class and the B-Class. These additional features include, an electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory function, centre armrest with cup holders for the rear seat and rear entertainment package with individual screens (B-Class only). The panoramic sunroof and the reverse parking camera feature that was previously available only on the petrol variants have made its debut in the diesel variants with the Edition 1 package.
On the outside, the Edition 1 variants of the A-Class and the B-Class feature striped decal, which runs along the side skirts, glossy black rear view mirrors and new alloy wheel design. Also, the Edition 1 badging is seen on the outside and the inside the cabin of the A-Class and the B-Class.
Lastly, apart from these added features, the A-class and B-class also get a new suspension setup with a slightly raised height. This not only helps the cars tackle undulations and potholes better than the current A- and B-class, but also improves ride quality.
