Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch the diesel variant of the 2015 C-Class tomorrow on 11th February, 2015! The variant being launched is a C220 CDI, which will join the earlier launched petrol variant in the Mercedes' line-up. Both the products come via a CBU route in India and could be locally assembled at its Chakan production facility in Pune at some later stage.
The 2015 C-Class was touted as the next stylish thing and was inspired from the S-Class heavily in terms of appearance. Not only the exteriors, but the interiors are also world class and comfortable too. There has been an immense demand for the diesel variant of the C-Class all across the globe, rising beyond company's expectation.
Mechanically, Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI would be powered by a 2.2L diesel engine which would generate a maximum power of 170bhp and 400Nm of peak torque. It would be linked to a 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission, which would transmit the power to the rear wheels of the sedan. It would propel the 2015 C-Class to touch the 100 kmph mark from standstill in a mere 7.4 seconds, while clocking an electronically limited top speed of 233 kmph.
Once launched, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class diesel would lock horns directly with the BMW 320d, Audi A4 2.0 TDI, and Volvo S60 D4, while expected to come around at a price tag of Rs 40 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
