Mercedes-Benz has revealed the CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake, which is the fourth high-performance compact car in its portfolio after the successful A 45 AMG, CLA 45 AMG and GLA 45 AMG models. Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake adopts the same philosophy as the successful CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake by taking the form of a sports car with five seats and a large tailgate. This high-performance sedan might just make its way to India as the CLA 45 AMG and CLA Class are already on sale in the country.
"The continued high demand for our high-power compact models more than justifies our decision to launch another exceptionally dynamic high-performance car in the form of the new CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake," remarked Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. "This means that Mercedes-AMG now boasts the most varied model line-up in this segment. The CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake serves up an enthralling blend of supreme power and dynamic handling on the one hand plus efficiency and everyday practicality on the other, all beautifully packaged within an extraordinary design." The CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake comes with a boot capacity of 1354 litres, while the rear seats are folded. The head room is also enhanced as compared to the four-door coupé model.
Under the hood, the sedan has world's most powerful most powerful four-cylinder engine in series production. It has the 2.0L turbocharged motor which dishes out a massive power of 360 bhp and peak torque of 450Nm. It is mated to a AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission which transmits the power evenly to all the four wheels of the sedan via Merc's fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. It propels the sedan to touch the 100kmph mark from standstill in a mere 4.7 seconds while maintaining a healthy fuel economy of 14.49kmpl. It has an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. In June of this year, the four-cylinder turbocharged engine achieved a memorable double at the "Engine of the Year Awards 2014" by winning the "New engine 2014" and "1.8-litre to 2-litre" categories.
Buyers can lend their CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake an even more individual touch by opting for the Exterior Carbon-Fibre package, the AMG Night package or the AMG Exclusive package. The CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake would be making its global debut in March 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show, while the market launch is also due to start in March 2015.
