Luxury car manufacturers are trying to bridge the gap between the premium segment cars, and the high-end luxury cars. While the dream of owning a luxury car was not accessible until a few years back, manufacturers these days are more inclined towards catering the mass markets rather than the niche markets only and one such example was Audi A3 sedan. To compete against it, Mercedes-Benz will launch its cheapest CLA-Class sedan tomorrow on 22 January 2015.
The CLA-Class is the cheapest sedan from the German manufacturer and will find its way to the Indian shores after Mercedes launched the AMG version of CLA last year. Mercedes was on a launch spree launch last year with 10 odd vehicles launched in a single calendar year. To continue their portfolio expansion, they will initiate the 2015 with CLA-Class.
This entry level sedan will be offered in both petrol and diesel trims and will come powered by a 2.0 litre mill producing 183.5 ps of power and 300 Nm of maximum torque, and a new 2.2 litre unit producing 136 ps of power and 300 Nm of torque. The power will be transferred to the wheels via the famous 7G-DCT automatic transmission of Mercedes.
The CLA sedan will be based on the MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform which is currently being underpinning the A-Class, B-Class, CLA 45 AMG sedan, GLA-Class and GLA 45 AMG. The expected price is going to be somewhat near to Rs 30 lakh range.
