Mercedes-Benz India has launched the GLC SUV at an introductory price of Rs. 50.70 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Pune) in the country. Being retailed as CBU, the new GLC 'Edition 1' is introduced in two variants: 220d and 300. Mercedes-Benz GLC is an all-new product, and it is positioned between GLA and GLE luxury SUVs. With the launch of GLC, the German luxury automaker now boasts of the largest SUV portfolio in luxury car segment in India with as many as half a dozen SUVs.

The GLC had made its first public appearance in India at the 2016 Auto Expo in February. The luxury SUV flaunts LED headlamps, three-dimensional radiator grille and sloping dropping line. It rides on 18-inch 5-spoke Alloy wheels, while boasting on 'Edition 1' badging on the wings. The GLC luxury SUV gets a special ambient lighting package with three colors and five dimming levels for the interior cabin. As for features, the luxury SUV gets ECO start/stop function, Keyless Go starting function, Panoramic sliding sunroof, Mercedes-Benz Apps with internet connectivity, Thermotronic automatic climate control, CD Player with 20 CD pre-installed, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Garmin navigation system and Garmin MAP Pilot. For those asking, Mercedes-Benz GLC has received 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.
As for safety of the occupants, the SUV boasts of ESP Curve Dynamic Assist, Crosswind Assist, Pre-Safe, Attention Assist, Reversing Camera, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, 7-airbags, and Tyre pressure monitoring system. Mechanically, the GLC is being offered in both the diesel and petrol fuel trims. The petrol variant GLC 300 4MATIC is powered by 2.0L engine which churns out 245bhp of top power and 370Nm of peak torque. Mated to a 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission, it does a 0-100kmph sprint in just 6.5 seconds, while clocking an electronically limited top speed of 222kmph. On the other hand, the diesel variant 220d derives power from a 2143cc motor while generating 170bhp of maximum power and 400Nm of highest torque. It is also coupled with the same 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission, and it touches the 100kmph mark from standstill in merely 8.3 seconds, before topping out at 210kmph.
