Mercedes-Benz India has launched the GLE 450 AMG Coupé at an introductory price of Rs. 86.40 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom Mumbai) in the country. The GLE 450 AMG Coupé is the first performance SUV Coupé from Mercedes-Benz in India and it comes without any predecessor. The company also announced that it would launch as many as 12 fresh products in India in 2016, includes several facelifts and a few new vehicles.
Talking about the exterior styling, Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 AMG Coupe flaunts a single louvre front grille and front splitter in chrome finish at the front fascia. It rides on 21-inch AMG-5 spoke light alloy wheels, while boasting of AMG badges at the front and black exterior mirrors. Furthermore, there is an automatic panoramic sliding sunroof and two chrome-plated AMG tailpipe trim elements with a four-pipe exhaust look. The GLE 450 AMG Coupe's cabin get a 3-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel in black nappa leather with flattened bottom. sports seats for driver and front passenger with sports brushed stainless steel sports pedals with rubber studs and embroidered "AMG" lettering on the ‘AMG’ floor mats are on offer as standard. The instrument cluster has dials in checkered flag look and offers an ambient lighting package with 3 colors and 5-stage dimming options for the desired lighting mood. Not to forget, the coupe comprises of a high-resolution media display with 8-inch screen, which acts as infotainment system.
Under the hood, the GLE 450 AMG Coupe has a AMG-enhanced 3.0L V6 biturbo engine. It develops a maximum power of 367bhp and peak torque of 520Nm, while linked to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. The coupe sprints from 0-100kmph in just 5.7 seconds. The Coupe also gets the Dyanmic Select feature, which has five transmission modes of Individual, Comfort, Slippery, Sport and Sport Plus. The driver can select any mode using a rotary control on the centre console. For those asking, the Sport Plus transmission mode is developed specially for the performance lovers. As for safety, the Coupe comes loaded with an array of safety features like Active Parking Assist, 6-airbags, Pre-Safe system, Crosswind Assist and Attention Assist.
