Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new GLE 63 AMG Coupé at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. This 4-door vehicle reflects sportiness of a coupé and strengths of an SUV, while belting out a massive power of 585 bhp. This high-performance SUV coupé comes with the AMG Ride Control sports suspension with active roll stabilisation Active Curve System. The 4MATIC all-wheel drive system with AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission maximizes the performance of this Coupe.
Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH: "We see great potential in this vehicle segment, which is new to Mercedes-AMG. The GLE 63 Coupé is the logical progression of our ambitious growth strategy – after all, in 1999 with the first high-performance SUV ML 55 AMG, we established a completely new segment. The new GLE 63 Coupé will inspire SUV fans focused on dynamics while at the same time representing a new interpretation of driving performance." The five transmission modes of “Slippery”, “Individual”, “Comfort”, “Sport” and “Sport Plus”, which the driver is able to select using a rotary control on the centre console, deliver fundamentally different driving dynamics.
Inside the cabin, The GLE 63 AMG has two large round dials with silver chrome surrounds and the central 11.4 cm (4.4-inch) multifunction display provide the driver with comprehensive information. The typical AMG equipment package includes sporty dials in carbon-fibre look with 320 kmph speedometer scale and red pointers, as well as the main menu including RACETIMER, manual gear indicator and AMG start-up screen. Optimal infotainment is guaranteed by the Audio 20 CD system with eight loudspeakers and the Remote Online communication module for the use of Mercedes connect me services.
Under the hood, GLE 63 AMG Coupe has 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine which develops an enormous power of 585 bhp and peak torque of 760Nm. It boasts the higher output and torque courtesy of a higher maximum charge pressure. The 5.5L engine is assembled according to the "one man, one engine" philosophy. This 8-cylinder powertrain enables the coupe to do a 0-100kmph in mere 4.2 seconds, while returning an impressive fuel economy of 8.39kmpl. This car could well be launched in India, going by Mercedes-Benz's recent announcement, that stated that the company would launch 15 fresh products in the country in 2015.
