Mercedes-Benz India announced that it will increase the price up to 2 percent, depending upon the models and the new prices will be effective from January 1, 2016. In a statement, Mercedes-Benz India said, "The price increase would be up to 2 percent, varying across the model range. The rising input cost is instrumental in the price revision of Mercedes-Benz products,"
Speaking on the price hike, Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said:“We have enhanced this value addition even further through our localization efforts. However, with rising input costs, we are compelled to make some price adjustments to our product range to protect the investment of our customers in the brand, maintain our premium brand positioning in the market and sustain a profitable business.”
The German luxury automaker sells a wide range of models in India, from A-Class going up to S63 AMG sedan. Mercedes-Benz has been on aggressive speed in Inida, launching 14 of the promised 15 cars in this year and not only this, the 15th model is the A-Class hatchback facelift, which is scheduled to be launched on December 8. The brand is enjoying its impressive sales performance that has surpassed 10,000 units in the Indian market in this calendar year already.
As the price hike appears marginal us, we don’t expect a significant change in the brand’s prospects in the new year. It seems, this German auto major is all set to become the market leader in the Indian luxury car market, giving a fight to other luxury segment manufacturers.
