Mercedes-Benz India Launches CLA-Class at Rs. 31.50 Lakhs

Mercedes-Benz has launched the CLA-Class sedan at a sticker price of Rs. 31.50 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in India. The CLA-Class is the most affordable sedan from the German manufacturer and it comes with a total of three variants. Mercedes was on a vehicle launching spree last year with 10 odd vehicles launched in a single calendar year. And, to better its record, it would launch around 15 fresh products in the country, which starts with CLA-Class today. The advance bookings of the CLA-Class had already been started by the company at a token price of Rs. 3 Lakhs across all its dealer outlets in the country.

This entry-level sedan comes in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. The three variants are - CLA 200 CDI Style, CLA 200 CDI Sport, and CLA 200 Sport Petrol. The petrol variant is powered by a 2.0L, 4-cylinder mill, which produces 181 bhp of top power at 5500rpm and 300 Nm of maximum torque at 1200-1400rpm. It does a 0-100kmph in just 7.8 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 235kmph. Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class petrol variant is decent on mileage front too, as it has an ARAI Specified fuel economy of 15.04kmpl. The CLA sedan is based on the MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform which is currently being underpinning the A-Class, B-Class, CLA 45 AMG sedan, GLA-Class and GLA 45 AMG.

Talking about the diesel variants, they in-house a new 2.2L unit producing 134 bhp of maximum power at 3600-4400rpm and 300 Nm of highest torque at 1600-3000rpm. Both the petrol as well as diesel engines are linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, which transmits the power to the front wheels of the sedan. It propels the CLA sedan to accelerate 100kmph from standstill in a mere 9.8 seconds, while attaining an electronically limited top speed of 220kmph. It too, quite similar to the petrol variant, is excellent in fuel efficiency as the company claims a ARAI Specified mileage of 17.9kmpl. Mercedes-Benz India has incorporated 6-airbags as standard safety feature across the CLA-Class sedan. Other premium features available with the Mercedes CLA Class are ABS, EBD and ASR, Bi-Xenon headlights, reversing camera, a Harman Kardon surround system with 12-speakers, panoramic roof, 17-inch alloy wheels and a COMAND infotainment system.
