Mercedes Benz India sold 3885 units in the January-March 2019 period.
• The AMG and Dream Cars witnessed over 50% Growth.
• Demand for the Long Wheelbase E-Class, C-Class, GLC and GLE SUV continue to grow.
• Record month for the Long Wheelbase E-Class and the C-Class in March.
• The V-Class Luxury MPV remains in high demand.
The Indian arm of Stuttgart based luxury car maker, Mercedes-Benz today announced its sales report for the first quarter of calendar year 2019. Mercedes Benz India sold 3885 units in the January-March 2019 period. Even though it continues to combat pressing issues such as inflationary hikes, rising import costs, rising interest rates, etc, the German car giant registered a strong growth during the Q1 2019.
Besides, the Q1 2019 sales of Mercedes-Benz are close to the substantially high base of Q1 2018 wherein the company sold 4556 units in the same period under review. Martin Schwenk, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “We are satisfied with our sustained sales performance despite facing strong macro- economic headwinds. Mercedes-Benz however is excited to retain its customers’ loyalty and sustain the market leadership. Also as a fundamentally strong brand, we remain bullish on the mid to long term prospect of the dynamic Indian market, which we believe has immense potential to grow.

The popular models accounting for a huge chunk of the sale during the Q1 2019 remain the Long Wheelbase E Class Saloon. The new C-Class and the GLC SUV also contributed towards the sales. Aside for the above mentioned models, the V-Class Luxury MPV also witnessed high demand. It has a long waiting period in most of the markets that testify its popularity. However, the AMG and the Dream Cars witnessed almost 50% growth during the Q1 2019 as compared to the same in the corresponding year.
